Job Summary
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a skilled Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Engineer to join its Infrastructure Operations team in Mumbai. This team is the foundation of AWS, responsible for maintaining the massive physical infrastructure—servers, power, cooling, and networking—that keeps the cloud running 24/7 for customers worldwide.
In this role, you will be the on-site expert for the data center's core systems. Your primary goal is to ensure that the facility operates with the highest standards of safety, security, and availability. Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for the data center, managing communications with internal teams and external vendors.
- Oversee all maintenance activities, both planned and unplanned, for the data center's critical power, cooling, and safety systems.
- Manage on-site contractors and vendors, ensuring all work meets established safety standards and procedures.
- Monitor the performance of all infrastructure equipment and prepare reports on operations and key metrics.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any facility-level issues within the agreed-upon timeframes.
- Work with other teams like IT, Networking, and Security to coordinate projects and optimize the data center's performance and reliability.
- Drive projects aimed at increasing the facility's capacity, efficiency, and sustainability.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in maintaining a data center or another type of critical facility.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Service Management systems (like Change and Incident Management).
- Availability: Must be able to work in a 24x7 rotating shift schedule.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or HVAC Engineering is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of data center systems such as DRUPS, generators, UPS systems, chillers, and CRAC units.
- Experience managing vendors who perform maintenance or construction in a large-scale, critical environment.
